This mural was created in partnership with Christ Church Cathedral and is meant to capture the attention of the city and its citizens and serves as a large scale response to the issue of gun violence. It is intended to promote conversations on how we as a society can move forward peacefully in creating a safer world in which to live.
“The mission of public art is always to stimulate a conversation and encourage the individual to struggle with the meaning of the image,” says Dean Gail Greenwell. “The juxtaposition of an image that looks like a gun but is actually a pencil is the artist inviting us to imagine what might be different if weapons were transformed into something quite different.”
