Wildlife, nature, and Mother Earth have always made Springfield Township special, but a focus on the arts and how they complement the township’s rich natural history helped reshape this community’s identity. ArtsConnect and ArtWorks partnered to bring a mural to Springfield Township to celebrate the community’s assets and serve as a backdrop for future events and arts engagements. ArtWorks employed a team of eight local Youth Apprentices, to work under the direction of two local Teaching Artists to create this mural, designed by Artist and Springfield Township resident Joe Castrucci. The Creatress mural honors Mother Nature and various plant life recognizable in Springfield Township. Strategically positioned on a busy thoroughfare, the mural reminds us to slow down, ponder our origin and embrace our natural surroundings. How do you appreciate and honor Mother Nature? What arts activities do you like to do outdoors?
