Metropolis Kaleidoscope: A Vibrant Tribute to Community and City

With a diverse, thriving array of anchor tenants and complementary retailers, Rookwood Commons is a Cincinnati shopping staple. To beautify the space, Hines Global Income Trust, which has owned the 594,000-plus sq. ft. Rookwood Commons property since 2017, collaborated with ArtWorks to develop four vibrant murals have gained life thanks through the creative vision of designer Kruti Mehta and the diligence of the mural’s production team.

An expansive, previously unadorned horizontal tableau beckoned for artistic embellishment. The nearby Wasson Way trail, a popular recreational path for cyclists and pedestrians, would provide both artistic inspiration and additional exposure for the artfully repurposed wallspace. “Metropolis Kaleidoscope: A Vibrant Tribute to Community and City” are an expansive reflection of feminine beauty and Wasson Way’s tranquil scenery, breathing new vitality into Rookwood’s formerly overlooked space adjacent to heavily-traveled Madison Road.

Kruti is a brand and package designer who works in New York at the Additive Agency. She is a graduate of The New School and has previously lived in Cincinnati. Working at Landor & Fitch and Bulletproof, she designed for such renowned brands as P&G, Starbucks, Toblerone, Oreo, Ritz, Captain Morgan, the United States Olympic Committee, and many more. She has a fervent passion for devising illustrations that make a positive and indelible impact on society, such as murals that celebrate physical spaces.
