Community Hero Flags
Nominations Now Being Accepted to Honor Your Community Hero

At ArtWorks, we are continually inspired by the giving and innovative spirit of our community to tackle challenges and create solutions to meet the needs of others. Ordinary citizens doing extraordinary things have never been more needed or more uplifting than now. Often working behind the scenes, local heroes use their talents, courage, creativity, and generosity to meet these challenges.
Everyday heroes are not always recognized. ArtWorks is changing that.
We want to bring attention to and celebrate these local resident heroes who selflessly go above and beyond to make a difference. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of everyday heroes living around us. They could be your neighbors, colleagues or just someone you read about that has made a difference—perhaps a teacher, a grocer, a medical worker or a community change advocate.
This is your opportunity to recognize and nominate a Community Hero in your life.
How Does the Community Hero Flags work?
As part of the Hero Design Company, ArtWorks Youth Apprentices will design and sew custom one-of-a-kind flags to honor and bring attention to local heroes whose selfless acts set them apart in these isolating and challenging times.
ArtWorks is reaching out to Walnut Hills partners for nominees to be presented with a physical thank-you in the form of a one-of-a-kind flag designed and created especially for each hero by Youth Apprentices hired by ArtWorks this summer. There is no cost associated for participation.
Nominations will be accepted through Monday, May 3, 2021 by 5 p.m., and heroes will be recognized in Fall 2021.
Tell Us About Your Community Hero
We can’t wait to hear more about Your Community Hero. When nominating someone for this honor, we are asking you to submit a brief description of about 500 words about why your hero needs recognition. We also ask a few more details to create the perfect symbolism for your hero.
Nominations are intended for our local community. Nominations are for individuals. Nominations for organizations, groups or businesses are not being accepted at this time.
Ready to Nominate?
Please use this form to send in your nomination. Be ready to share your contact info, your essay or video and contact info for your Community Hero (so they can receive their award by mail). We’re accepting nominating through Monday, May 3, 5 p.m.

Will Need Your Help to Present the Flag
We are working on the best way to present your hero with their flag. Our plans include working with those who nominate to help us present the finished project to your hero. We will keep you informed as our plans come together for Fall 2021!
