Wet Paint featuring Matthew Grote

Wet Paint is ArtWorks’ event series that offers a look behind the scenes of our in-progress projects centered on the artists who make them possible.
Attendees will hear from the Apprentices, Teaching Staff and Studio Artists behind our summer 2024 art projects, followed by a talk and Q+A with featured artist Matthew Grote.
Grote is a Cincinnati-based artist who produces creative work in every imaginable medium: from painting, drawing, and sculpture to digital art, street art, animation, and toy design. Matthew graduated from the University of Cincinnati – Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning Department’s (DAAP) Industrial Design program. He spent several years as Senior Designer at Fisher Price building, prototyping, and designing toys before working more independently and building an impressive portfolio of clients and partners who include Haney, Inc., Chrysalis, Fisher Price, Spinmaster, and Innovergency. Matthew has worked as a Lead Teaching Artist with ArtWorks on several previous occasions, providing invaluable lessons, leadership, and insights to the region’s young artists employed through the Summer Apprentice program.
