CINCINNATI— Six new art exhibitions will debut in ArtWorks’ V² Gallery in 2024, showcasing a diverse range of art, spanning from pieces inspired by social activism to captivating photography, painting, and illustration.
These works of art will be brought to life through ArtWorks’ Gallery Fellowship program, which provides emerging artists, ages 16–24, with a unique opportunity to hone their skills and express their creativity under the guidance of professional local and national artist-in-residence mentors. The program offers a platform for collaboration with curators, collectors, and arts professionals, fostering an environment where young artists can learn and present their works in collective exhibitions.
The first of its kind in Cincinnati, the V² Gallery is located at 929 E. McMillan St., in partnership with HER Cincinnati. Gallery openings and receptions occur from 5-7 p.m. on the first day of each exhibition. These events are free and open to the public. Works displayed in exhibitions are for sale, with proceeds going directly to the artists. Additional exhibition viewings may be scheduled by appointment.

Crafting Conversation: Art as Protest
January 26 – March 14, 2024
Under the guidance of Cincinnati-based Artist Ciara LeRoy, this show will delve into the ways in which art, handicraft and activism work together toward positive and sustained change.
Sawdust
March 29 – May 9, 2024
The exhibition, led by Cincinnati-based Image Maker & Arts Educator Jim Tucker, pushes the boundaries and bonds between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional artmaking.
Lavender Balm: Expressions of Queer Resistance
May 31 – July 11, 2024
Guided by Artist Barry Lee from Atlanta, Georgia, vibrant artworks delve into the realm of vulnerability, exploring profound internal themes rooted in the artists’ lived experiences.
Enchanted Life: Finding Magic in the Everyday
July 26 – September 12, 2024
Spearheaded by migrant Argentinian Artist Julia O. Bianco, the exhibition aims to open the realm of possibility in our everyday experiences and re-examine discarded objects through the lens of enchantment.
Chiaroscuro
September 27 – November 7, 2024
African-born and Cincinnati-based Artists Romain Mayambi and Leo Thiam invite visitors to experience chiaroscuro, an Italian term that conveys the interplay between light and dark, through the medium of images and films.
Renewal: The Art of Change
November 29 – December 13, 2024
This special, jury-selected exhibition features works from a wide variety of artist submissions that explore change and transformation as forces in life.
About ArtWorks V² Gallery
The ArtWorks V² Gallery is unlike any other gallery in Cincinnati, focusing on emerging artists. Inspired by ArtWorks’ apprentice program, learning artists have the chance to take part in a master class program to study the tools and techniques of lead artists and create their own individual works of art to exhibit. This gallery is made possible through the generosity of V², also known as Vandell Verdona, a collaboration between longtime ArtWorks supporters Sara and Michelle Vance Waddell and Ron Houck and David Nebel. Who We Are
Since 1996, ArtWorks has collaborated with community organizations and residents, businesses, governments, foundations, and nonprofits to build creative works of art that support the Greater Cincinnati region’s global reputation as an arts destination. ArtWorks has employed and trained over 3,500 professional artists and 4,000 youth, ages 14–24. We invest in our creative economy by creating jobs that support local talent, pairing professional artists to inspire and mentor diverse teams of youth, and helping them build 21st-century career-readiness skills. Over the past 27 years, this collaborative approach has created a citywide gallery with more than 14,000 public and private art projects, including more than 300 permanent outdoor murals.
