The ArtWorks V² Gallery Program allows teen and young adult artists (ages 16-24) to study the materials and methods of outstanding Artists to inform the creation of their own unique and individual works of art. Programs culminate in a cohesive group exhibit with all works for sale and proceeds going directly to the participating Artists. This is a free educational program with all art-making supplies provided.

GENUINE STATIC is a multimedia program that holds space for the vulnerability we may experience throughout salient moments in our lives. How can we recognize and cherish overbearing shifts? And how do we release and build from these sensations, while still holding significance for them? This series will touch on intentional and unintentional ways of creation, through paint, and other multiple mediums of art. We can accept and build from mistakes and challenges. We can learn to freely express ourselves as the genuine, static beings that we recognize ourselves to be.

Learning Objectives:

Artists will learn how to use/experiment with different texture techniques; and how to expand beyond regular, square canvases
Artists will create individual and collaborative work that includes: large-scale paintings and sculpture.
Artists will create art inspired by conversations, readings, music, etc that is shared throughout our sessions.
Artists will learn how to use and layer multiple mediums to create cohesive art pieces.

About the Artist

Cierra Fogle is an experimental artist that uses multiple mediums to communicate her passion for life and creative freedom within her body and art. Born in Aurora, Co., and raised in Cincinnati, she has always been very in tune with the presence of change, and her emotions and experiences through life. Currently navigating life as a black and queer freelance artist in Cincinnati, Cierra is deeply inspired by words, noise, textures, and conversing with other people and places outside of herself. Her art is a call to communication; a bridge that connects her current self, others, and her ancestors; an invitation for vulnerability and freedom of expression. Cierra has shown work and completed residencies at the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center, Kennedy Heights Arts Center, Roses Midwest Gallery, amongst many others. She enjoys curating her own exhibitions that challenge others’ perspectives, and live painting, during music or spoken word performances with other artists of different mediums.

Who should apply? Teen and young adults ages 16 – 24
What is the cost? There is no tuition required, and all teen and young adult participants will be supplied with materials.
Is this a paid opportunity? No. However, program participants will price and sell their work in the gallery. ArtWorks will take a 10% commission fee for any work sold.
