Sadly, the original “Avondale Heroes” mural was consumed by fire in 2021. However, this unfortunate event provided an opportunity for ArtWorks to devise a redux that would provide a compelling tribute at 3500 Reading Rd. in Avondale. The vibrant, five-panel mural pays stylized homage to community leaders with a striking composition designed by artist and educator James Pate, who also designed the original mural. A sizable team of ArtWorks teaching artists, apprentices, and studio artists brought Pate’s vision to life.
