Planet Love

There is something special about receiving a postcard; they feel like a fun, spontaneous snapshot of a friend or a loved one’s experience. In summer of 2023, the True Body Project and ArtWorks jointly brought to life a mural-sized postcard titled “Planet Love” at The Well in the Camp Washington.

Over eight weeks, the True Body Project empowered twelve female and gender-expansive youth through trauma-informed programs that included movement and art. Project participants shared their journeys, raising awareness and exploring solutions to the mental health challenges faced by teenage girls.

The True Body Project was funded by the City of Cincinnati, P&G Beauty, Idlewild and area individuals. Fifteen teens and and young adults participated under the guidance of True Body Project Program Founder Stacy Simms and Teaching Artist Kyle Wolff. The result of this mentorship was the creation of a “Planet Love”-themed book, mural, and exhibition that included writing, sculpture, photography, painting, and mixed media.

Wouldn’t we all benefit from touching base with a warm hello from Planet Love a bit more often?
