Once Upon the River...
in partnership with Duke Energy Convention Center

Artist's Rendering
Lead Artist: Tina Westerkamp
6 Apprentice Artists, 3 Teaching Artist
Duke Energy Convention Center is a hub for many
national conventions and a face for the City of
Cincinnati. Two teaching staff and six Apprentice Artists to
created a 25 x 13’ mixed-media installation for the
Convention Center.
The team used painting, stenciling and collage
elements and found objects such as fossils from the
banks of the Ohio River and authentic Germanmade
woodwork to celebrate Cincinnati’s history.
Highlighted influential Cincinnatians include famed
author Harriet Beecher Stowe, industrious brewers
Christian Hudepohl and Christian Moerlein, and
Levi Coffin, who was known as the president of the
Underground Railroad.
